Team Hidalgo gains support of County’s top law enforcement official, amplifying Hidalgo’s track record for public safety

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas—(Sep 29, 2022) – Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the County’s top law enforcement leader, endorses Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo for re-election. With over two decades in public service, spanning roles that include peace officer and homicide detective, Gonzalez’s experience, expertise, and excellence in law enforcement and crime prevention lend his endorsement special significance.

“I proudly endorse County Judge Lina Hidalgo. She has fought to provide our local law enforcement agencies with the resources they need to protect our communities from violent crime, and simultaneously invest in vital community programs that prevent crime before it happens,” Sheriff Gonzalez said. “Judge Hidalgo understands the complex issues that drive violent crime, and she’s courageous enough to stand up to gun lobbyists, the bail bond industry, and anyone else putting profits above safety. I know Judge Hidalgo is committed to keeping Harris County safe.”

Since taking office, Hidalgo has made public safety a priority with tough and smart anti-crime initiatives. She fought for the largest investment in law enforcement in Harris County history that included the implementation of programs like the Holistic Assistance Response Teams and Precision Policing and promoted common-sense gun safety solutions.
